How To Take A Picture for Your Transformation

Instructions for Taking Pictures for The True Shift Room Transformation

  • 1. Lighting and Angles

    • Ensure good lighting in the room.
    • Take pictures facing directly toward the shelving, refrigerator, or other areas.
    •  Capture the entire contents of each area
    • If you are taking pictures of a countertop, take pictures looking across the countertop of shelf at eye level as much as possible versus from over the top. This approach allows the picture to capture labels and shapes more effectively. 
    • If you are taking pictures of lower cabinets such as undersink cabinets, take pictures looking across at the cabinet or shelf at eye level to the extent possible.  This approach allows the picture to capture labels and shapes more effectively. 
    • Top down pictures are okay for drawers such as make up drawers, utensil drawers, spice drawers, etc.

  • Objects originally in the foreground

  • Objects in the rear brought forward

  • 2. Capturing Contents

    • Ensure that the picture clearly shows all items, so the AI and your consultant can identify and inventory them.
    • Move objects around if necessary to reveal items at the back:
    • Move items from the back to the front and take another picture.
    • Repeat this process a few times for accuracy.

  • Not-so-great label visibility

  • Good label visibility

  • 3. Label Visibility

    • Make sure bottle, can, and object labels face forward for easy identification.
    • For appliances, try to show the brand name in the picture.

  • Overhead shot - ok, but insufficient

  • Straight ahead shot (having both an overhead shot and a straight ahead shot is best)

  • 4. Low Cabinets

    • Get low and take pictures straight across the cabinet, not just from overhead.
    • Overhead images can be useful but should be complemented with straight-ahead images.

5. Quantity of Images

If unsure, take more pictures rather than fewer to ensure all contents are clearly captured.
