On top of that it is vegan and non-GMO, and the brand states it is free of parabens, silicones, and aluminum. The formula itself is dense with antioxidants and adaptogenic botanicals, sea silt minerals, squalane, sunflower unsaponifiables that support the skin barrier, bacuri seed butter, plant stem cells, oat, tremella mushroom, licorice, and green tea, and it dries to a shine-free, matte finish that absorbs fast. It is marketed for men, but it works just as well as a unisex daily moisturizer for anyone who wants a nourishing cream that does not sit greasy.

Two Honest Points Worth Knowing

We need to be clear on two things the front of the pack can blur.

1. First, this is not a fragrance-free product: the label lists "Fragrance/Parfum" and citronellol, a recognized fragrance allergen. The brand states its fragrance is 100% naturally derived, and here the MADE SAFE certification does real work, because it means even that natural fragrance has been screened to be free of phthalates and other harmful chemicals, which is stronger than a maker's word alone. Still, it is scented, so if you are sensitive to fragrance or want none at all, this is not your pick. 

2. Second, although the product is titled and marketed as "organic," it is not USDA Certified Organic; "organic" here refers to the sourcing of some plants rather than a whole-product certification. We would rather point you to the certification it actually holds, MADE SAFE, than repeat an "organic" label that is not certified.

The Other Tradeoffs

1. It is a complex formula of nearly fifty ingredients, and it includes mild exfoliating acids (a PHA and a little citric acid), which are gentle for most people but worth a patch test if your skin is very reactive to acids.

2. It is also a premium-priced product from a small brand. What you get for that is a genuinely certified, antioxidant-dense, matte-finish moisturizer, with the honest caveats above.
