The Honest Notes

The honest framing here is the same as for any electric brush, with one extra nuance.

1. First, this is still an electronic device: the handle houses a motor and a rechargeable battery, so however nice the bamboo heads are, the handle itself is not a compostable object, and at end of life it is electronic waste bound for a battery or e-waste program, not your compost or curbside bin. It is not "non-toxic" in the ingredient sense, and we would not call it that. 

2. Second, the plant-based bristles are made from castor bean oil, which is a bio-based nylon: genuinely greener than petroleum nylon, but plant-derived rather than nylon-free, so unlike a boar-bristle brush it is not truly zero-microplastic. And as with most refillable brands, expect a nudge toward a head-replacement subscription, which you do not need to buy into to use the brush.

3. So think of this as the greenest way to run a powered brush, not as a plastic-free object. The bamboo heads and plant bristles are the real, on-brand win; the handle is honestly a device.
