The Honest Notes

A few honest points.

1. First, on glide: wood combs move through hair well and are a big improvement on plastic, but they do not glide quite as slickly as buffalo horn, and on very thick, curly, or badly tangled wet hair a wooden tooth can snag or, if you force it through a stubborn knot, occasionally break. So detangle gently, ideally on dry or just-damp hair, and use a wide-tooth comb or a brush for the worst tangles first. 

2. Second, as with any sandalwood piece, keep it away from water and heat: do not soak it or run it under hot water, wipe it dry if it gets wet, and keep it out of direct sun and away from heat sources so the wood does not dry and crack. And because the scent comes from the wood itself, it is naturally aromatic rather than fragrance-free. 

3. One buying note: Onedor makes both an all-wood sandalwood comb and a sandalwood-plus-horn version, so if being vegan matters, confirm you are getting the all-wood one.

It scores well because it is exactly what it appears to be: a single, solid piece of natural sandalwood, so it is verifiably plastic-free and vegan, anti-static, gentle on the scalp, and free of any microplastic shedding, with a pleasant natural aroma. It sits a touch below the horn comb for honest reasons rather than faults: wood does not glide quite as smoothly as horn and can snag or break a tooth if forced through thick, tangled wet hair, and like any wooden tool it needs to be kept dry. We also set aside the traditional-medicine claims the category is marketed on and score it only on what it verifiably does. For a vegan, all-wood, anti-static comb, it is an excellent choice.
